SellCut has no servers of its own, no accounts, and no analytics. Your photos are edited entirely on your iPhone. The single exception is the optional AI listing writer: if you add your own Anthropic API key and choose Claude, the product photo is sent to Anthropic to write the draft. You are asked before that happens, and it is off by default.
Nothing. SellCut contains no analytics framework, no advertising identifier, no crash reporting service, and no tracking of any kind. We do not know who you are, how often you use the app, or what you photograph.
This remains true when you use the AI listing writer with Claude. That request goes from your iPhone straight to Anthropic using your own API key. It does not pass through us, and we receive no copy of it.
All image analysis — background removal, edge refinement, document detection, and text recognition — runs on your device using Apple's Vision and Core Image frameworks. Images are held in memory while you work and written only where you choose to save them: your photo library, the Files app, or a destination you pick in the share sheet.
Background removal, canvas sizing, text recognition and barcode reading make no network requests at all. You can confirm this by turning on Airplane Mode; all of those keep working.
SellCut can draft marketplace listing text for you. By default it does this on your iPhone and nothing is sent anywhere.
You may instead choose to use Claude, made by Anthropic. If you do, you must add your own Anthropic API key, and SellCut then sends the product photo and the text it read from the label to Anthropic so Claude can write the draft. If you also ask it to research a price, the item's description is sent so Claude can search the web for comparable sales and postage costs. SellCut asks you to confirm before the first of these is sent, and always shows which writer produced a draft.
Anthropic handles that data under its own terms and privacy policy, not ours. SellCut sends nothing else: not your other photos, not your scanned documents, not any identifier for you or your device. Your API key is stored in the iOS Keychain on your device and is sent only to Anthropic, to authenticate your own requests.
Scanned documents are never sent anywhere under any setting. That feature is on-device only, deliberately, because scans tend to contain exactly the sort of thing that should not leave a phone.
SellCut saves your scanned document history on your iPhone using Apple's SwiftData. It also stores a count of how many free exports you have used. This information stays on your device, is included in your encrypted device backup if you make one, and is deleted when you delete the app — with one exception noted below.
The free-export count is stored in the iOS Keychain, which by design survives app deletion. It contains a single number and nothing that identifies you. Its only purpose is to stop the free allowance resetting on reinstall.
Subscriptions and the one-time Lifetime purchase are handled entirely by Apple through StoreKit. We never see your name, your payment details, or your Apple Account. SellCut receives only a yes-or-no answer from iOS about whether an active purchase exists. Apple's own privacy policy governs that transaction.
Camera — used only when you take a photo, scan a document, or read a barcode inside the app.
Photo library additions — used only when you save a finished image.
SellCut does not request read access to your photo library. When you import a picture, iOS shows its own picker and hands SellCut only the specific images you selected.
SellCut is not directed at children and collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
No third-party software development kits are embedded in this app. There is no advertising network, no analytics provider, and no crash reporter.
One third-party service can be reached, and only at your instruction: Anthropic, if you supply your own API key and choose Claude to write a listing. That is a direct connection from your iPhone to Anthropic, governed by Anthropic's terms and privacy policy. Remove your key in Settings and the app cannot contact anyone.
Rights to access, correct, export, or delete personal data — under the GDPR, the CCPA, or any similar law — apply to data a company holds about you. We hold none. To remove everything SellCut has ever written, delete the app.
If this policy changes, the updated version ships inside a new release of the app and the effective date above changes with it.
